Hard Chromium is widely used in industry as a hard (up to 1100 HV0.1), wear resistant coating.

Single, double or multi-layered coatings are possible, crack-free or micro-cracked (1000 - 2000 cracks/cm).

At MTV the most advanced Hard Chromium electrolyte is used in fully automated plating plant, where deposition conditions are fully controlled. Components can be totally or partially coated followed by machining if required. For environmental protection reasons, an alternative hard wearing coating with a low coefficient of friction, high temperature tolerance, good anti-fretting properties and acceptable corrosion resistance must be found.
